Did you know that between 1854 and 1927 over 12,500 children were placed in MI by the Orphan Train program? Some of these children were placed in Fenton, Holly, and Tyrone Township.

Regular Historical Society Meeting
Please join us for our regular Historical Society meeting. Please bring a dish to pass. We will share about 15 minutes of history about the Denton School by Tom Runyan and then proceed with our regular Board meeting. We will share updates on the Town House project, elect a new Trustee, hold our quilt raffle, and plan for our Thanksgiving Feast. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Historical Society's Annual Summer Picnic
The Historical Society’s annual summer picnic is scheduled for July 17th at 6:30pm. Join Grillmasters Tom Runyan and Glen McFarland for a fun summer day and a delicious meal. The Historical Society will provide the burgers, hot dogs, rolls, and condiments. Side dishes and desserts will be potluck style contributions. The summer picnic will be held at 8420 Runyan Lake Rd, Fenton.

Our regularly scheduled Tyrone Township Historical Society potluck, program, and Board Meeting will take place starting at 6:30pm. Please bring a dish to pass and join us for an exciting program about the history of Kandahar Ski Club, presented by Harry Hammond!
We are also excited to have our new cookbooks available and welcome a special guest, Tami King from Agape Studios, who has created a beautiful concept painting for the Town House. The Board Meeting will be important for members as we work to fine tune our bylaws and share updates about our many projects.
Guest Speaker - Blue Heron Headwaters Conservancy
We enthusiastically welcome Blue Heron Headwaters Conservancy to Tyrone Township to present conservation strategies we can all implement at home. Blue Heron aims to preserve, protect, and educate.

Regular Historical Society Board Meeting & Potluck
Join us for our regularly scheduled Tyrone Township Historical Society meeting and potluck! Enjoy a meal with neighbors, programming about local history, and stay to see what’s happening with the Historical Society as they conduct their Board meeting. Potluck starts at 6:30. Special guest, Pamela Pack will be sharing the history of her local flower farm, Petal de Fleur! Pamela has a deep love for history and has put a lot of time into reasearching her farm’s roots. (Pun intended!) She runs a beautiful farm with cut flowers, group events, and so much more! Join us to hear her story!
The History of the Bicycle Community Presentation
Antique bicycle collector and historian Tyson Brown is bringing his love for the history of the bicycle to Tyrone Township! He will discuss the development history of the bicycle and its influence on society.
Tyson is the president of the Auburn Hills Historical Society, member of the Michigan Wheelmen, and enjoys riding high wheelers at Greenfield Village in the summer. He will also be joining us this summer as a historical demonstator at Pioneer Day on July 22nd!

Tyrone Township Historical Society's Thanksgiving Feast!
Our annual Thanksgiving Feast with members is on the calendar! We will share gratitude and a delicious, traditional Thanksgiving meal together. We also host a silent auction at this event each year. Come shop, or if you have items, crafts, or baked goods to sell, send us and email and we’ll get you the information you need to participate. All funds raised benefit the Historical Society directly.
If you’d like to bring a dish to pass for the Thanksgiving Feast, please email us and we will send along the sign up sheet. This event takes place at 8420 Runyan Lake Rd in the Boardroom of our Township Office building.

Bring your favorite recipe piping hot, ready to share. We’ll serve it up with delicious cornbread, donated by Beale St BBQ! Let your neighbors and friends be the judge. The taster’s palates will choose the winner.
Cider and donuts from Spicer’s Orchard will be available to enjoy as you sit by a bonfire, listen to live music, or just relax taking in the fresh country air with good company. We’re looking forward to seeing you there.

Tyrone Township Historical Society Board Meeting & Potluck
Our next Tyrone Township Historical Society meeting will be held on Monday, September 19th at 6:30pm. We welcome you to join us and bring a dish to share with friends and neighbors. We will enjoy our usual potluck dinner and Historical Society Board meeting.
The September meeting will include our election of officers per our Bylaws. Please email us if you’d like a list of nominees in advance. We'd like to thank our current Historical Society Board members for their dedication, time, and hard work. It's been quite an eventful (and sometimes stressful) year, full of ups and downs and countless meetings. We wouldn't be where we are as an organization without you! Also, a big thank you to our nominating committee for your time and hard work, thinking carefully about the future of the Historical Society.
At the Sept. 19th meeting, we will also share updates about fundraising, grants awarded/pending, and the Town House project. Information, tickets, and volunteer sign up sheets for the Chili Cook Off will be available and we would appreciate your support for the success of this upcoming fundraiser event on October 9th from 4-7p.
We will also have new, forest-green Historical Society t-shirts on sale at the $10 member price. Hope to see you there.
Putt for the Town House at Uncle Ray’s Dairyland!
Join us for an afternoon of fun for all ages! Whether you're 1 or 101, who doesn't love a good game of putt-putt and ice cream from Uncle Ray's? What's sure to be a fun filled afternoon is also a good cause. Help us move our Historic Town House by participating!
Games start at noon, putt putt scramble begins at 1pm with a shotgun start. Contests at every hole, interesting historical facts, and prizes! Find your team of 4, young, old, or a little of both! Team registration is now open, $25 per player! Participants will receive a goodie bag from our sponsors and a T-shirt.

The Tyrone Township Historical Society would GREATLY appreciate your donations of gently used clothing, shoes, handbags, small home goods, and decor as a fundraising effort in partnership with Community Threads of Fenton.
Let us help motivate your spring cleaning! Save yourself the hassle of a garage sale and make a donation that supports preservation of local history.
The donation drive is open NOW and runs through July 23rd, 2022. There are two options for turning in donations:
1. Bring your donations to Pioneer Day July 23rd from 10a-12p. Community Threads will be there ready to accept your generous donations.

Town House Comittee Meeting
We will continue working toward moving our Historic Town House by meeting Wednesday, March 30th at 6pm. Our meetings are held at the Township Office building and are open to anyone who would like to help with this project.

Your participation in our online auction will enable us to fund our Town House Project. Our goal for this project is to move, resettle, and fully integrate of our Historic Town House onto presently owned Township property.
The Historic Town House was built in 1887 to establish a central gathering place for townsfolk to celebrate, vote, and come together as a community. Moving the Town House will ensure that this registered historic landmark will remain a central piece of our community's heritage, and serve as a gathering space once again.
